Opportunity – the ‘what’
As Sales Operations Assistant Team Lead, you will supervise Sales Operations Administrators and junior staff, ensuring high‑quality, timely delivery of administrative, data, and project work. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and supporting the sales operations admin team, creating an inclusive, communicative, and collaborative environment.
- Allocating work fairly and transparently across people and projects, setting clear goals, deadlines, and KPIs; monitoring team performance and reporting progress regularly.
- Assessing training needs, completing skills matrices, delivering coaching, and running learning activities to ensure strong development pathways and skill building.
- Establishing mentoring opportunities with acquisitions teams for interested support‑team colleagues.
- Representing support‑team members in meetings with wider Sales teams, gathering feedback, proposing improvements, and helping resolve issues and conflicts.
- Overseeing admin workflows, ensuring process efficiency, system adoption, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Leading systems and process‑improvement initiatives, including the standardisation of administrative procedures and planning for resources and outsourcing.
- Managing recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisals, and performance management, including handling disciplinary matters where necessary.
- Overseeing procedures for setting up new project records and ensuring accurate project and content data maintenance across systems.
- Partnering with Academic Sales Operations Managers to move the team toward more hands‑on support for BAU activities and key accounts.
These responsibilities will have a significant impact on operational efficiency, staff development, and the quality of sales support across Academic Sales Operations.
About You
Essential Criteria
- Experience leading a team, including coaching and training capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence providing feedback and engaging across varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to line‑manage with an adaptable, positive approach.
Desirable Criteria
- Proven track record of project management.
- Experience in process improvement and supporting change implementation.
