About the Role

The primary responsibility of the Editorial Operations Assistant is to work closely with the Content Acquisition & Development and Upper-Level content teams, as well as Production, to assist in the project management of content handovers. This includes reviewing handovers, identifying areas of concern, and working to resolve issues to ensure timelines are met. The role also involves maintaining ongoing workflow processes and aiding in the documentation of such processes. Additionally, the assistant will support the implementation and maintenance of ongoing enabling systems across Higher Education (HE) and help develop expertise within HE for various editorial-wide systems.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the implementation of new systems and business processes, adapting workflows to changing environments and publishing requirements.
  • Administer project handovers and tracking.
  • Assist in the timely delivery of throughput, schedules, and quality.
  • Learn and expand knowledge to provide technical support to the HE team, including documentation for various editorial-wide systems such as Qualtrics, iThenticate, Oxford Publish, and Oxford Purchase.
  • Take accountability for and complete other assigned activities within the team, such as contributing to an index of HE content assets.
  • Ensure projects adhere to the overall vision for workflows and processes, recognizing the need to escalate issues for direction and decisions.
  • Establish and maintain handover information according to established guidelines, using a system for tracking all handover progress.
  • Contribute to other tasks as assigned by the Editorial Operations Lead.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Aptitude for project management, successful innovation, content development, and delivery of goals.
  • Ability to learn assigned systems.
  • Ability to work productively with peers and cross-functionally within the matrix management structure of the Press.
  • Excellent written communication, as well as strong interpersonal and verbal skills.
