Project Editor / Editor / Assistant Editor (Primary ELT)

About the Role
We are looking for talent to join our Primary English Language Teaching Editorial Team who will assist in the planning, design and implementation of publishing programme; finding and commissioning authors, training and supervising subordinates to produce accurate ELT materials for the target market.
Key responsibilities:

Project identification and planning - Involvement and assistance in brainstorming and discussion with line managers to identify new projects. Active involvement in project planning and development at concept stage. Direct involvement and contribution to realizing winning publishing programmes.

Quality control - Assist Project Manager in the upholding of OUP standards by ensuring ELT materials in their various forms (print; bulk and sample, audio and electronic, stand-alone or package) are produced to the highest standard possible, within the limitations of authorship and schedules.

Market knowledge - HK curriculum and assessment guides are interpreted and complied with. Products are created which meet specific requirements. Greatest possible market share is secured.

Network and resources - Proactive and regular involvement in school visits, building teacher and teaching professional networks. Begin identifying potential authors and reviewers. Begin commissioning and retaining quality authors.

Communication and supervision - Effective ongoing communication within team, department and inter-departmentally ensures up-to-date information is fully disseminated. Briefings are clear and accurate. Various stages of subordinates’ work, from manuscript to bound or e-copy is efficiently and fully supervised and checked. Feedback is regular and structured. New and inexperienced subordinates are provided with ongoing individual and small-group mentoring.

Proactive involvement in and contribution to training programmes is demonstrated. Subordinates are proficient and take pride in their jobs. House standards are reinforced, upheld, and maintained. Effective individual and team work is encouraged.

Accessibility and accuracy of information and records - Editorial process runs smoothly, documents are readily located and circulated. Schedules are up to date.

Dissemination of product knowledge - Ongoing collaboration and communication with EM. In-depth list expertise is disseminated to sales and marketing personnel. Participation in public relations activities is ongoing. Professional support is provided to the Press as a whole and to the Marketing Department in particular at all major promotional events.

Increase brand awareness and respect for the brand - Oxford University Press and its product lines are promoted both during and outside office hours at, for example, seminars, book exhibitions, conferences, schools, professional associations, Spring dinners and author’s parties.
