Senior Editor

About the Role
We are looking for a talented Senior Editor to join our Product Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial project management of complex digital and print products in the Primary and Secondary Mathematics portfolio, ensuring products adhere to agreed budgets, deadlines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate freelance suppliers to edit and develop content for publication to agreed budgets, schedules and expected quality standards

Ensure published products meet the required quality standards

Conduct editorial checks on print files, including approving content for printing

Develop subject matter expertise in the assigned portfolio and ensure products adhere to subject-specific style sheets

Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of editorial processes and workflows for digital and print products

Develop and maintain productive and successful internal and external relationships with colleagues in the Product, Production, Design and Digital Product Management teams, as well as authors and freelance editorial suppliers

Contribute to the strategic direction of the Editorial team and the wider Product team
About You
Essential:

Excellent editorial and proofreading skills
-
Good understanding of the editing and publishing process
-
Effective communication skills and command of the English language
-
Excellent organisation skills and an ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
-
Project management expertise
-
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
-
Experience working as an editor in an inhouse or freelance capacity
Desirable:
-
Degree/postgraduate qualification in editing and publishing
-
Experience in educational publishing or related field
-
Understanding of the Australian education system
-
Editorial experience in the assigned subject-specific portfolio
