About the Role
We are looking for a talented Educational Consultant to join our Sales Team who will be responsible for maintaining existing sales and prospect new opportunities within assigned territories across Japan; and to provide consultation service to customers, in order to grow sales and develop the OUP brand in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Institutional visiting
- Contact customers by direct visiting, virtual meetings, phone and email to assess needs, position appropriate materials and close sales.
- Maintain existing institutional adoptions and prospect new sales by setting up and executing appropriate visits and events (e.g. presentations, teacher training and book fairs) in your territories, within budget.
- Plan activities for each year by month and week. Report on this plan each month in 1:1 meetings to inform your manager of your activity and reflect on your performance.
Key account management
- Identify new prospects and develop existing accounts to build long-term business partnerships and grow market share.
- Position integrated offers of materials and services to create market-leading educational solutions.
CRM database management
- Timely and accurate input and update of institution, contact and adoption data in CRM database.
- Data extraction and manipulation to enable planning and reporting of sales activity.
Event attendance
- Attend large promotional events like JALT national conference and Oxford Teachers Workshops.
- Organise and attend small promotional events in own territories.
- Staff smaller events organised by Marketing as required
Product knowledge
- Ensure excellent product knowledge of OUP ELT materials both through training provided and own product study.
- Build knowledge of competitor ELT materials both through training provided and own product study.
- Maintain knowledge of current ELT pedagogy both through training provided and own study.
Market knowledge
- Research territories to be aware of existing and potential adoptions and new business opportunities.
- Be aware of general market trends, conditions, activities and opportunities
Customer service
- At all times maintain an appropriate, professional relationship with customers, ensuring a positive image of OUP and of you as the company representative.
- Business attire at all times in the presence of customers. When customers are not present dress code is business casual.
Trade visiting
- Visit university bookshops to obtain adoption data and maintain customer relations.
- Contact booksellers to confirm adoptions and provide post-adoption support where required.
- Occasional bookshop and distributor visiting in local territories.
About You
Essential:
- Experience of and interest in English language education
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Japanese
- Able to demonstrate initiative, work independently and challenge oneself
- Bachelor degree or above
- Proficient in MS Office
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ELT market/publishing industry in Japan preferred
