About the Role
The Head of Commercial Finance is responsible for developing dynamic business plans, financial modeling, and front-ending business on critical decision-making. This role involves driving month-end closing, analyzing trends (revenue, margins, overheads), monitoring cost price movements, and comparing results versus budgets. The position also includes driving the closure of annual budgets/submissions, quarterly business forecasts, and a five-year business strategic outlook. Monthly engagement with stakeholders on price mix, cost trends, budgets, and analysis of reasons for variation is essential.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop dynamic business plans and financial modeling.
- Drive month-end closing and analyze trends (revenue, margins, overheads).
- Monitor cost price movements and compare results versus budgets.
- Drive closure of annual budgets/submissions and quarterly business forecasts.
- Engage monthly with stakeholders on price mix, cost trends, budgets, and analysis of reasons for variation.
- Deep dive into cost structures and co-pilot business on commercial models (pricing, margins, product mix).
- Prepare detailed monthly dashboards of financial/business results and present to the India leadership team.
- Act as the SPOC for all new business launches, develop commercial models for new products/business, and perform financial modeling on partnerships/collaborations.
- Drive regional performance, lead and direct regional commercial finance teams, coordinate with sales team members, finalize regional budgets (sales, overheads, profits, collections, and DSO), and conduct periodic reviews with national and regional sales heads.
- Revisit sales and commercial protocols, drive efficiencies (returns from customers, effectiveness of sales tools), and co-pilot with sales directors to drive growth targets.
- Drive change initiatives such as SAP S4HANA, CRM, data intelligence, and analytics.
- Support SBU heads with data and financials to enable business decisions and drive periodic reviews of business financials.
- Coordinate with product and procurement for new initiatives and processes.
- Manage people, stakeholders, and timelines/deadlines on deliverables.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- MBA from a Tier-1 institution or CA with 15+ years of experience.
- Experience in business decision support, budgeting and forecasting, and commercial finance.
- Experience in a similar role in a large company.
- Previous experience working in SAP/ERP environments.
- Understanding of internal and external business environments and business dynamics.
- People leadership experience is a must.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement in a commercial environment.
- Self-motivated and demonstrate personal initiative.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to challenge, influence, and work with non-finance colleagues.
- Excellent skills in Excel, Word, data extraction, Power BI/similar analytics, and Outlook.
